SketchUp

Originally created independently by @LastSoftware in 2000, SketchUp is a 3D modelling software used by people in various professions and sometimes just for fun. It is very easy to use and is very versatile. It was acquired by Google in 2006 and distributed for free till 2012 when Trimble Navigation acquired it.

The latest version is marketed with the motto “3D for Everyone”, indicating how easy it is to use. SketchUp 2015 Pro is a premium application but a free version (SketchUp Make) is available for non-commercial purposes.
It includes an in-built ruby console for over 365 plugins and extensions. The Component Warehouse allows users to share their models and use models made by others. SketchUp is used by Architects to create 3D models of their projects, creating walkthroughs, views, and beautiful rendered images. While working at Architect Hafeez Contractor as a trainee, I realised how extensively it is used to bridge the gap between technical complicated plans or elevations and the client. It is extremely easy to use and learn, unlike 3DS Max or AutoCAD, and gives equally amazing results.
