This may come as a surprise to many, AutoCAD may be the leader in the market, but it has been proven to be less satisfying to people as compared to a software called DataCAD, which ironically has the worst market performance. This seems quite unusual, don’t you think? Maybe architects today are designing with their eyes shut? When there are better software out in the market, why are people still in love with AutoCAD? Nostalgia? It’s painful to use it anyway!
DataCAD seems to be a very humble yet sophisticated software. ‘It has been created by Architects for Architects’. The only problem with it is it’s hefty price tag. But I’m sure that if the demand for it increases, the price will come down. I would love to try it out as soon as possible.
AutoCAD, Revit and SketchUp are obviously at the top. They’ve been there for a long time. With a constantly changing world and constantly improving technologies, I really hope to see something new come up soon.
